Tonight..such a beautiful night... 2011-11-07 | 0 Diamond[s] Big Bang Wins the "World Wide Act" Award at MTV European Music Awards After weeks of fan voting, Big Bang has been announced the winner of the "World Wide Act" Award at MTV's European Music Awards. The event was held today in Belfast in Northern Ireland. Congratulations to them as this is another huge step in bringing K-Pop to the Worldwide Market. As another treat, all five members of the group were present to receive the award as well. For their acceptance speech, G-Dragon spoke in Korean followed by Taeyang speaking in English, "This is only because of our fans, through our ups and downs. Thank you for standing by us." They include Lena representing Europe, Abdelfattah Grini representing Africa/India/Middle East, Britney Spears representing North America and Restart representing Latin America. HICAP November 7, 2011, 1:31pm MANILA, Philippines – Korean boy band Big Bang scored a big upset at the MTV Europe Music Awards when they bagged the Worldwide Act award. And for the first time in months, all five members of the band were reunited following the scandals involving Daesung and G-Dragon. The boys were at the ceremony—broadcast live from Belfast, Northern Ireland—to accept the award. “It’s amazing. Thank you so much,” said leader G-Dragon on stage. Big Bang won the award over Britney Spears (North America), Abdelfattah Grini (Africa/India/Middle East), Lena (Europe), and Restart (Latin America). “This is only because of our fans [who were with us] through the ups and downs. Thank you for standing by us. Thank you MTV,” said member Taeyang. Lady Gaga brought home four awards: Best Female Act, Best Song, Best Video, and Biggest Fans. Band 30 Seconds to Mars won the Best Alternative and Best World Stage. Bruno Mars bagged the Best Push and Best New and Justin Bieber snagged the Best Male and Best Pop awards. Other winners are: Best Hip Hop – Eminem; Best Live – Katy Perry; Best Rock – Linkin Park; Queen – Global Icon award. The MTV EMA was the first public appearance of G-Dragon and Daesung since their scandals. It was a sweet victory and redemption for Big Bang, which had been under intense public scrutiny since Daesung and G-Dragon were involved in two incidents that threatened their careers. Daesung had been on hiatus since he got involved in a car accident on May 31. He was investigated for running over a motorcyclist. Authorities eventually cleared him in the case. On the other hand, G-Dragon hid from the public eye after it was announced last month that he tested positive for marijuana use. The Big Bang leader admitted smoking marijuana and prosecutors did not charge him since only a small amount was found in his body. He said a “cigarette” was given to him at a club in Japan in May. Big Bang won Worldwide Act on MTV European Music Awards. According to the news i've read, them winning is a big surprise--but for us VIPs (and all Big Bang supporters), it wasn't a surprise because we believe on the talents of Big Bang. What made this event more epic is that they won over the famous Britney Spears. Maybe that's why they say it was a surprising win. Anyways, I, as a very big fan, am very much happy and proud of the 5 boys. I am so glad i chose to belong in the VIP fanclub years ago. Although this fanclub is very challenging due to all the negative issues usually thrown at the boys (the marijuana case of my husband aka Jiyong, the car accident of Daesung, etc.), i am still very grateful for this fanclub is the most exciting one. And i am so glad as well because we all get to see the five of them once again after all those "scandals" has passed. Big Bang, you guys are really no.1! ------------------------------------------------- Honestly, i wasnt able to watch it because the night before the show i stayed up late preparing for the birthday celebration of my aunt in my other aunt's house. Then the next day, we were supposed to wake up really early to sing birthday songs (it's called "Harana") to her at the other house however it was cancelled because it rained. We went back to sleep instead. When i woke up at around 6:30 in the morning i checked my twitter acc through my phone and that's how i learned that Big Bang won. The feeling was amazing; it's like I'm also receiving the award on the stage with them. I was kinda teary eyed as well, all because of happiness for the group, the VIPs (for all the hardwork of voting and praying) and the rest of YG family. Finally, Big Bang is making a name on worldwide music. I know they already did but this award makes it more like official..hihi.. That's all for my spazz moment for now. BTW, don't forget to vote them (as well as other YG family members--2NE1 and Tablo) on MAMA 2011. Let's make them win!!! xoxo,  |
